      The Power of Prayer

JAMES 5:16 tells us this: "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." What exactly does that mean? If I am righteous does it mean I get everything I pray for? What about unanswered prayer? Join Pastor Mike as he explores this wonderful gift God has given us. Click on any link below to listen to a message.

1. SHOULD WE PRAY? -- (2CHRONICLES 7:13-16) (5/3/2015) -- Webster defines a paradox as "a statement that seems to say two opposite things but that may be true." So what's the paradox when it comes to prayer? We serve a sovereign God who is in control of all things. Right? Then how can my prayers make a difference?

2. DOES GOD HEAR US? -- (NEHEMIAH 1:1-11) (5/10/2015) -- Where is our worship? Where is our heart? Where is our obedience? Where is our love? God hears us but is He listening to us?

3. WITHOUT HYPOCRISY -- (MATTHEW 6:5-8) (5/24/2015) -- Is there intentional and unconfessed sin in our lives? Is there hypocrisy in our prayers? Our prayers are not about who we can impress but by how much our heart is into our communion with God.

4. TAKE A TIP FROM JESUS -- (MATTHEW 6:5-15) (5/31/2015) -- Thank you. I'm sorry. Please. Jesus has given us the model. It's up to us to add the substance.

5. WHAT SHOUD WE ASK FOR? -- (PHILIPPIANS 4:4-7) (6/7/2015) -- A make-believe congregation in a make-believe church did not think their prayers were powerful or effective. The pastor said this to his church: "O dear church, the problem isn't poor technique, a lack of Bible understanding, a weak will, or a lack of concern. Our prayers are not powerful or effective because we really don't believe they matter."

6. SUFFICIENT GRACE -- (2CORINTHIANS 12:7-10) (6/14/2015) -- What did the apostle Paul say? He will boast about his weakness. He will boast about the unanswered prayer. He will delight in his weakness. Why? Because when God answers "no" to our prayers it is to display the power of God. Are we OK with that? Are we OK with sufficient grace?
